The authority is checking a pattern, not a balance
Applicants tend to assume the closing balance is what matters. Usually it is not. Visa assessors are looking at whether funds have been held consistently over a required period, because the requirement exists to establish genuine financial capacity rather than a borrowed sum parked for a week.
This has a direct consequence for what you submit: the statement must cover the full period the authority specified, continuously, with no missing months. A statement covering a shorter window, or with a gap, does not demonstrate what the rule asks for, regardless of how healthy the closing figure looks.
It also means a large deposit appearing days before the application draws attention. That is not something a translation can address — if there is a legitimate explanation, it belongs in a covering letter or an affidavit, and we can translate that too.
Lakh and crore notation
Indian statements commonly express amounts in the lakh and crore system, and Indian digit grouping places separators differently from the international convention. A figure written as 12,34,567 is twelve lakh thirty-four thousand five hundred and sixty-seven — which an assessor unfamiliar with the convention may misread as a substantially smaller number.
We render figures so they are unambiguous to a foreign reader while remaining faithful to the original. Where notation could cause confusion, a translator’s note explains the convention rather than silently reformatting the numbers, because an assessor comparing the translation against the original statement needs to see the same figures in both.
Currency is always identified explicitly. An amount that does not state its currency is an amount an assessor cannot use.
The bank’s stamp is the point
A bank statement’s evidential value comes from the bank attesting it. A printout from net banking, unstamped, is a document you produced yourself — and many authorities say so explicitly in their guidance.
Get the statement stamped and signed at the branch before translating it. The stamp, signature, official’s name and designation then appear in the translation, because that authentication is what the assessor is verifying.
If your statement is not stamped, translating it first is wasted expenditure. We will tell you if we see an unstamped statement, though we cannot know every authority’s rule for certain.
Volume and formatting
Statements run long, and a full year of transactions across multiple pages is a substantial job priced per page rather than as a single item.
The formatting has to survive translation. Transaction tables are reproduced as tables with the same columns in the same order, dates in the same sequence, running balances aligned with their entries. An assessor reads these line by line against the original, and a reflowed layout that loses the row-to-row correspondence is difficult to check and invites rejection.
Send complete pages, including page numbers and any header or footer identifying the account and the bank. Partial pages and cropped tables are among the more common reasons a financial submission is returned.
