What we do, and which one you need
The words 'certified', 'notarised', 'sworn' and 'apostilled' get used interchangeably, including by the people asking you for documents. They mean different things and cost different amounts.
Before you order anything, find out what your receiving authority actually requires. A university admissions office, a visa centre and a district court want different things, and paying for apostille when a certified translation would have done is a common and avoidable expense. If you tell us the country and organisation receiving your document, we will tell you which of these applies — including when the answer is the cheapest one.
- Certified translation A complete translation with a signed statement of accuracy, our letterhead and our contact details, so the receiving authority can verify it.
- Notarised translation A certified translation where a notary public witnesses and records the translator's declaration, adding their own seal and register entry.
- Sworn translation What 'sworn' means in the countries that use the term, why a translation certified in India may not substitute, and how to establish which your authority actually requires.
- Apostille and document attestation We prepare and translate documents for the apostille or embassy attestation chain, and tell you which route your destination country actually requires.
